I wrote yesterday describing a problem with 4.0pl[01] on Solaris 2.4
with a Multitech 2834ZDX modem, where the server stayed in an 
"Initializing server" state forever and I got "device in use"
messages.

It turns out that changing to software flow control solves the problem. 
I'd been switching back and forth and had left it on rtscts while trying
other things. And, of course, Solaris is notorious for its non-support
of hardware flow control.

Before that, I was having trouble sending faxes out because I was
getting repeated RTNs from my PC with an AT&T Dataport 14.4 modem
on it. It turns out the problem was on the receiving end, not on
the HylaFAX end. I tried sending to another fax machine and it worked
fine.
