% \newcommand\hyla{HylaFAX} % Dear friends, (please, don't write you hate me!) I'm writing for a new problem I got since I installed \hyla: from the FAQ, I see I'm not alone in wishing to have AutoPPP answering to (some) data calls, and, since I do some management from home, I like mgetty for its callback before login feature too. I tried to set it up, but I didn't get adaptive answering to work in a decent way: before trying \hyla\ as a fax server, I had mgetty running on the modem, and the modem did the adaptive answer by itself (to be fair, I had a very long struggle to receive faxes); now comes \hyla\: it was able to receive the very first fax I sent it, but it's not willing to leave me get in by a data call... If you care, here comes a session log from the last call I attempted ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feb 08 15:28:59.32: [30535]: SESSION BEGIN 00000106 3962023507 Feb 08 15:28:59.32: [30535]: <-- [4:ATA\r] Feb 08 15:29:45.61: [30535]: --> [8:+FHNG: 1] Feb 08 15:29:45.61: [30535]: REMOTE HANGUP: Ring detect without successful handshake (code 1) Feb 08 15:29:45.61: [30535]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake Feb 08 15:29:45.61: [30535]: <-- [4:ATA\r] Feb 08 15:29:46.19: [30535]: --> [2:OK] Feb 08 15:32:46.19: [30535]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake Feb 08 15:32:46.19: [30535]: <-- [4:ATA\r] Feb 08 15:33:32.45: [30535]: --> [8:+FHNG: 1] Feb 08 15:33:32.49: [30535]: REMOTE HANGUP: Ring detect without successful handshake (code 1) Feb 08 15:33:32.49: [30535]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake Feb 08 15:33:32.49: [30535]: SESSION END ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To my ear discrimination, the modem did fax, even though I have a config.ttyS2 containing the lines: .... # $Id: rc288dpi,v 1.4 1996/06/24 02:58:38 sam Rel $ GettyArgs: "-r -s %s %l" ModemType: Class2 # use class 1 interface ModemRate: 38400 # locked for fax sending&receiving ModemFlowControl: rtscts # default # ModemSetupAACmd: AT+FAA=1 # enable adaptive-answer in Class 2 # AdaptiveAnswer: yes # cosi' dovrebbe rispondermi AnswerRotary: "any" # this should work! ....
